Hi friends (and fans), (or other onlookers)
Winterfolk was a wonderful weekend musical event which included the new Monday "family day" holiday. As well as my own shows, I did 2 sets with Mose Scarlett and Tony Quarrington and I did a very enjoyable guitar duo set on Monday. Sweet! Lots of great camaraderie and a great hang for musicians and fans alike. Next week I'll be playing with chanteuse Sonya Cote at the Reservoir Lounge here in Toronto. It's a 7-9pm gig so come over after work or for a meal at the "Rez" and listen to us play swing and torch tunes for a couple of hours. Sounds good to me. Hope to see you there.

2010 is going to be an exciting year filled with great gigs and adventures. I'll be touring Europe in the summer this year with a new GUITAR DUO, with German guitarist Barbara Jungfer. This is a very exciting project and I'm looking forward to doing many concerts with Barbara. We are currently booked in Italy, Germany and Norway where we're very pleased to be playing at the Canal St Arendal Jazz Festival Norway located in the "Venice of Scandinavia" and Sudtirol Jazz Festival Bozen Italy, in the Tryolean Alps! I'm also looking forward to playing in Berlin where I also hang out with my very excellent Berlin friends. You can check us out here: www.guitarduo1.com.
I'm also excited about working with chanteuse Sonya Cote. She's a treat to play with and I'm hoping to do European gigs this band as well. 2010 will also bring some new collaboration with singer/songwriter Joanne Crabtree. We're gearing up for a possible Canadian tour in 2011!! Can you believe that? I love playing with Joanne. She's the "real deal".
The Blues Fuse show is another exciting new project for me. What a happy band! This band is KILLING!, and I want to get the band to Europe asap. (agents interested?). And yet another nice thing, The The Jackie Washington Orchestra put on a fantastic tribute to the great Jackie Washington at Hugh's Room on Fri Feb 4.10. I'd love to see the group spread the Jackie Washington word in other cities too! What a great band and a great show! Watch a bit of video here.
I was very proud to receive the CIUT-FM's Back To The Sugar Camp 2009 Porcupine "Lenny Breau Award". (The "ultimate musicianship award"). I can't tell you what a thrill it is to get the esteemed award!! Thanks to host/producer Steve Fruitman for his tireless efforts on behalf of artists and musicians.
