Hi friends (and fans), (or other onlookers)
After a great start to 2010, with 2 great Hugh's Room shows and the Winterfolk festival, I'm getting ready to embrace spring as soon as possible. Looking forward to a whole new array of challenges and fun musical experiences and projects. I'm still doing Wednesdays at the Reservoir Lounge here in Toronto with chanteuse Sonya Cote. It's a 7-9pm gig so come over after work or for a meal at the "Rez" and listen to us play swing and torch tunes for a couple of hours. Sounds good to me. Hope to see you there. My summer European tour is shaping up nicely . I can't wait to play with this new GUITAR DUO, with German guitarist Barbara Jungfer. This is a very exciting project and I'm looking forward to doing many concerts with Barbara. We are currently booked in Italy, Germany and Norway where we're very pleased to be playing at the Canal St Arendal Jazz Festival Norway located in the "Venice of Scandinavia" and Sudtirol Jazz Festival Bozen Italy, in the Tryolean Alps! The Women's Blues Fuse show is another exciting new project for me. This band is KILLING! I mean it. We're currently seeking concert and festival engagements so please get in touch. We also want to go to Europe asap! I know European audiences would love this show.
The Jackie Washington Orchestra put on a fantastic tribute to the great Jackie Washington at Hugh's Room on Fri Feb 4.10. I'd love to see the group spread the Jackie Washington word in other cities too! What a great band and a great show!
In January, I was very proud to receive the CIUT-FM's Back To The Sugar Camp 2009 Porcupine "Lenny Breau Award". (The "ultimate musicianship award"). I can't tell you what a thrill it was to get the esteemed award!! Thanks to host/producer Steve Fruitman for his tireless efforts on behalf of artists and musicians.
